Speakers at a discussion in Sylhet on Monday gratefully recalled the glorious role of Tofazzal Hussain Manilk Mia for his unflinching role against all sorts of injustice, oppression and deprivation through writings.
A doyen in the field of journalism, Manik Mia fought persistently against all odds and adversities for the emancipation of common people.
The speakers came up with the remarks while speaking at the discussion held at the Hotal Est and marking Manik Mia’s 46th death anniversary.
 Sylhet Central Writers’ forum organised the discussion. Narsingdi Correspondent adds: A discussion meeting and Doa Mahfil in observance of 46th death anniversary of eminent journalist and founder editor of the Daily Ittefaq Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia was held at Narsingdi Press Club on Monday.
Former Principal of Narsingdi Govt Collage Mohammad Ali attended the discussion and Doa Mahfil as chief guest with Narsingdi correspondent of Daily Ittefaq and ex president Nibaran Roy in the chair. The meeting was address among others by former Principal of Narsingdi Govt Collage Gulam Mustafa Miah, Principal of Abdul Kadir Mollah City College Doctor Masiur Rahman Mridha, President of Narsingdi Press Habibor Rahman, Secretary Makhan Dash, former President of Narsingdi Press Club Sarker Adam Ali, journalist Abul Fais, Badal Kumar Saha, Amzad Hossain, Shafiqul Muhammad Manik, Haladhar Das, Mazharul Parvage Monti, Tofazzal Hossain, Mahabub Alom, Mahabubur Rahman and Jainul Abdin.
The speakers said Manik Miah was the active journalist and also the eminent politician of the subcontinent He was a close compainon of Hosyan Shaheed Suhrawardy. Manik Miah was active in writing against military rule, autocracy and violation of the fundamental rights of people. After the discussion a Doa Mahfil was held there.
