Two school going girls drowned in the river Tirnoi under Baliadangi upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.
Locals said the victims are Lima Akhtar, 14, daughter of Pajiruddin and Tazmina Akhtar, 14, daughter of Naimuddin, of Shahatpur village of the upazila. Both the ill-fated girls were students of class eight at Madhupur High School of the upazila.
Lima and Tazmina went missing while taking a bath in the river. The villagers rescued the bodies of the two girls after one hour of hectic searching.
