Two people were injured by bullet as some snatchers opened fire on them in a bid to snatch their money at Shukdara in Fakirhat upazila on Sunday morning.
The victims are Bidyut Kumar Das, 45, son of Ranjitpur village in Sadar upazila and Niamul Islam Niamer, 44, of Piljong village in Fakirhat upazila. They are employees of businessman Prakash Kunda of Chulkati Bazar in Sadar upazila.
Businessman Prakash Kunda said when the two employees were going to deposit Tk 13 lakh to South Bangla Agriculture Bank riding a motorcycle around 11am the muggers coming in a motorcycle opened fire on them for snatching the money, leaving them injured.
Superintendent of Bagerhat Police Pankaj Chandra Roy said the muggers failed to snatch the money as local people rushed to the spot hearing the sound of gunfire.
The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Police are conducting a drive to arrest the snatchers, the SP added.
