bdnews24.com :The officers-in-charge of Bagha and Charghat police stations in Rajshahi have been withdrawn and replaced by two from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.Rajshahi Police Superintendent Nisharul Arif told bdnews24.com that a withdrawal order was issued on Thursday. Former Bagha OC Amninur Rahman, replaced by Ali Mahmud, has been attached to the district’s police lines. Nibaran Chandra Barman has replaced Alamgir Hossain as the Charghat OC. Asked about the move, SP Arif merely said the reasons were administrative. “Charghat OC applied for transfer citing personal reasons and Bhagha police OC has been discharging duties of OC for the second time,” he said. However, a police officer, on condition of anonymity, told bdnews24.com the two men were removed following allegations of ‘patronising’ drug peddling and ‘taking money from detainees’.But, Alamgir Hossian, the former Charghat OC, told bdnews24.com that he had applied for transfer because of a ‘conflict’ with local Awami League leaders.”The Charghat Police Station building used to be the local Awami League unit office. I turned it into a police station after being transferred here,” he said. “This had caused a rift with local Awami League leaders and I requested to be shifted.”
