Two new PWs testify against Qaiser

Two new prosecution witnesses (PWs) in the trial of Syed Md Qaiser on Wednesday submitted their depositions, one accusing the former state-minister for agriculture signaling the killing of four Freedom Fighters (FFs) including his father.
Renu Miah, 58, hails from village Moujpur under Madhabpur police station in Habiganj, submitted his deposition as PW-27 and corroborated the deposition of PW-26, Mazeda Khatun, who testified against Qaiser yesterday.
Renu said his father and three of his friends were detained by the Pakistani troops accompanied by Qaiser and taken to the bank of river Shonai blindfolded.
“There the Pakistani troops made them to stand in a line and moments later Qaiser made a signal to the troops and a man wearing uniform gunned them down,” he said.
After his deposition, Abdus Subhan Tarafder, counsel for Qaiser, cross-examined him.
Meanwhile, Md Nurul Islam, a member of the investigation agency today testified as the PW-28 and submitted his deposition as a seizure list witness.
After that the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 adjourned the hearing till today, leaving his cross-examination incomplete.
Qaiser, who had allegedly raised an auxiliary force to Pakistani occupation army during the War of Liberation, was indicted on February 2, 2014 on 16 charges of crimes against humanity.
