Two get life-term jail in Naogaon drug trafficking case

A court here Tuesday sentenced two persons to life-term imprisonment in a drug trafficking case in Jaluapara area under Porsha upazila of the district in 2021.
The court also fined them Taka 50,000, in default, to suffer one-year more in jail each.
Naogaon Second Additional District and Sessions Judge Hasan Mahmudul Islamdelivered the verdict Tuesday.
The convicted were identified as Jewel Rana,18, son of Saidur Rahman, resident of Narendrapur Molla Para under Sadar upazila of Chapainawabganj district and Md. Babu, 19, son of Md. Amir Hossain.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicts– Jewel Rana and Md Babu– were arrested on August 29, 2021. On secret information, a raid was carried out by the Assistant Director of Naogaon District Narcotics Control Department Md. Lokman Hossain on that day and recovered 225-grams of heroin from their bodies in two separate packets on Saraigachhi-Adda road in Jaluapara area under Porsha upazila of the district.
Later, police submitted charge-sheet before the court against them in the case.
After examining witnesses, the court found them guilty and handed down the punishment .
