Under the auspices of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry , a tripartite meeting between Ctg Chamber, BSTI and stakeholders was held on Saturday .
CCCI president Mahbubul Alam presided over the meeting. Among others Deputy Director of BSTI, Chittagong Md. Showkat Osman, Deputy Director Engr. SM Ishaq Ali, chamber directors Mazharul Islam Chowdhury, Mahfuzul Hoque shah, MA Motaleb, Jahurul Alam, Sirajul Islam , senior officials of BSTI and stakeholders of BSTI and CCCI were present in the meeting. Chamber President urged the BSTI officials to encourage the entrepreneurs in private sectors aimed at enhancing the export products to extend help the ongoing process of the economic development of the country. Healso called upon the producers to procure ISO certificate to help facilitate the expansion of export trade of the local products. CCCI President urged upon the BSTI officials to simplify the certificate procuring process rather harassing the beneficiaries and emphasized the industry=friendly environment in the country. In the meeting discussion also held on minimizing the license fee of BSTI but BSTI officials said the organization is run by govt and the increase and decrease of license fee defends on decision of the govt. The meeting also suggest to form a tripartite committee comprising Chittagong chamber, BSTI and stakeholders of the different industrial sectors.
The meeting also demanded establishment of modern testing laboratory, refixing of testing charges and testing lab of the products in the port city, sources said.
