Training on Zinc Paddy expansion held

Skill development training is organized for agricultural officers for zinc paddy expansion. On Wednesday (December 30), RDRS Bangladesh, funded by Harvest Plus and Gain Bangladesh, conducted skill development training for Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers in the Hallroom and RDRS Bangladesh Training Center at the Upazila Agriculture Officer’s Office in Taraganj Upazila, Rangpur District.
The Department of Agricultural Extension, Rangpur Deputy Director. Md. Sarwarul Haque inaugurated the training program as the chief guest. Md. Asaduzzaman Khan, Deputy Director (Seed Marketing), Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), Rangpur was present as a special guest; Urmi Tabassum, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Department of Agricultural Extension, Taraganj; Rangpur Metropolitan Agriculture Officer Mosha: Amena Khatun and Rangpur Sadar Agriculture Extension Officer Khandaker Sohel Ahmed.
In his welcome address, Md. Mamunur Rashid, Senior Coordinator (Agriculture and Environment), RDRS Bangladesh, emphasized on ensuring the production of zinc rich paddy at the farmer level.
The chief guest in his speech gave thoughtful feedback on the production of zinc paddy as well as reaching out to the consumers of zinc rich rice.
In his special guest speech, HarvestPlus Project Project Coordinator Abu Hanifa highlighted the role of market factor in commercialization of zinc paddy. Agriculture Research and Development Officer Md. Ruhul Amin Mandal gave an introductory talk on Zinc. In her speech, she said that zinc deficiency causes diarrhea, pneumonia, decreased immunity, baldness, shortness of breath, maternal problems and so on. He then discussed the marketing of various rice varieties rich in zinc.
