A-day long training for the election officials was held at Burail Model School and College under Fulchhari upazila in the district on Sunday.
Fulchhari upazila election office and upazila administration jointly arranged the training at the directives of the Election Commission.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) and also returning officer Abdul Matin addressed the training as the chief guest and superintendent of police (SP) Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah and district election officer Mahbubur Rahman were
present at the event as the special guests.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdul Halim Tolstoy presided over the function
while upazila election officer Khandakar Mohammad Ali made a welcome speech for the trainees.
The trainees were informed that the district and the police administrations including other organs of the government are fully firm to hold free, fair, peaceful, credible, transparent and neutral parliamentary election slated on December 30 in five constituencies of the district.
DC Abdul Matin urged the assigned officers to perform their election duties in Gaibandha-5 (Shaghata-Fulchhari) constituency with utmost sincerity and honesty. The DC also asked them to be serious and alert on the day of the
election so that the enthusiastic voters could cast their votes peacefully and properly without any hassle and trouble.
SP Engineer Abdul Mannan Miah said the presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers including the voting materials would
be sent to the voting centres with security and they would be brought back in
the same manner.
District election officer Mahbubur Rahman said a total of 44 presiding officers, 229 assistant presiding officers and 458 polling officers would
perform their duties in the upazila.
As many as 1.09,861 voters, of them 53,743 males and 56,118 females,
from the constituency would exercise their rights to franchise on December
30, he added.
All the presiding officers and the assistant presiding officers of the
constituency took part in the training.
