Muggers shot a man and took away Tk 30 lakh in Gobindanagar Munshirhat area in the district town on Monday noon.
Witnesses said a group of six miscreants intercepted the motorcycle carrying Mazharul Islam Babu, a dealer of Navy cigarette,
while going to deposit Tk 30 lakh to a local bank.
The muggers shot him from a close range and fled the scene along with the cash around 12 am, leaving Mazharul seriously injured. He was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
AKM Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident and said a pistol and a bomb were recovered from the spot.
