Locals of Chandpur village under Shailokupa upazila of the district have rescued a timber trader by the side of No-2 Chandpur Bridge on Saturday morning.
The abducted person is identified as Rezaul Islam Babu, 35 son of Abdul Latif of Putimari village under Shailokupa upazila of the district.
Babu’s relative said, on the last Thursday night Babu had been missing and his mobile is switched off. The abductors have looted Tk 12 lakh from him and left him in a turmeric plot tying his hand and leg. Babu is a timber trader. He took Tk 12 lakh from BRB in Kushtia. On the way home he had been abducted and they looted the amount.
On Saturday morning at around 8-00 am locals heard his screams and rescued him and sent him to Jhenidah sadar hospital for his treatment.
ASI Belal Hossin of Bhatoi Bazaar police camp told that he heard from AL secretary that a timber trader had been abducted on Thursday night.
