A Dhaka court yesterday placed two accused, who were arrested on Sunday night, on two-day remand each in a case lodged over the sensational murder of Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Prity in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area on March 24.
The two accused are- mastermind Sohel Shahriar alias Shot gun Sohel and Maruf Reza Sagar, who allegedly supplied the arms used in the murder.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam passed the order after the duo have been produced before the court. Investigation Officer of the case and Detective Branch Inspector Mohammad Yasin Shikder pleaded to the court to place them on five-day remand.
Police arrested Sohel and Maruf from the capital’s Motijheel area last night.
