National Board Revenue (NBR) Chaiman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan on Sunday laid emphasis on forcing every taxpayer to file income tax return.
“Currently, there are some 46 lakh TIN holders in the country. Of them, 22 lakh submit the income tax returns. Officials of regional tax offices from January will start calling those TIN holders did not file tax returns yet. Competent tax payers will be forced to submit returns along with the tax,” he said.
The NBR Chairman informed this while addressing a press conference marking National VAT Day and VAT Week-2019. National VAT Week and National VAT Day will be observed in the country on December 10-15. He said the number of tax return payees in the country has increased in the current year.
Mosharraf Hossain also ordered the NBR officials to get tough in taking VAT.
