BSS, Dhaka :
Although it was not officially announced by International Cricket Council (ICC) yet, but after a memorable 79-run victory over India in the first ODI it’s just a matter of time to be officially announced that the Tigers have risen their spot to 7th in the ICC ranking.
Bangladesh needed at least one of the three-match ODI series against India to topple West Indies and claim the 7th spot. And Tigers have fulfilled their primary mission in the very first match of the game.
Before the start of the series, Bangladesh were at the 8th spot with 88 points while West Indies were a place above with being ahead just by a minimum fraction of points. On the other hand, Pakistan were at 9th spot with 87 points to their name.
With the victory in the first ODI, Tigers will now secured 3 points and move up to 91 points on the board, which will take them to the 7th spot, for the first time ever in their cricket history.
It’s very necessary for Bangladesh to keep consistence of ranking to qualify for the ICC Champions trophy to be held in 2017 in England. Apart from host India top seven teams of ODI ranking will take part in the Champions Trophy.
