Three brothers were hacked to death by rivals at Kazinagar village in Sonaimuri upazila on Sunday noon over previous enmity.
The deceased were identified as Harun, 38, Kamal, 34, and Babul, 23, sons of Maksud Ullah of the village.
Morshed, younger brother of the deceased, said Goalm Maola, Saddam, Amir and Anowar, all hailing from the same village, beat and hacked the trio indiscriminately with sharp weapons while they were playing football in a local play ground, leaving Harun and Bablu dead on the spot and Kamal critically injured.
Kamal was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The district’s superintendent of police Ilias Sharif confirmed the incident.
