Police on Saturday arrested three persons from Chattogram’s Saltgola area for gang-raping a 30-year-old garment worker at knifepoint in the city’s Customs area on Friday night.
The accused rapists are Md Monir and Md Jamal. Name of the other accused could not be known immediately, reported our correspondent.
“Police arrested them [the accused] after receiving a complaint from the victim through the National Emergency Number 999 around 12:30am on Saturday,” said Milon Mahmud, deputy commissioner (Port) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
The suspects allegedly tied the victim’s husband in a tin-shed room and raped her beside the foot-over bridge at the Customs intersection area between 9:30pm and 11:30pm on Friday night, police said.
The victim was sent to the One-stop Crisis Centre of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for medical tests, added the DC.
