‘Terrorist’ injured in gunfight with cops in Satkhira

An alleged terrorist was injured in a gunfight between police and members of his group at Katkhali Beel (water body) in Shyamnagar upazila on Friday night.
The injured was identified as Akter Faruk, son of Haji Ashaul Islam, a resident of Kashimari village of the same upazila.
Organising secretary of BNP Kashimari union unit in the upazila, Akter Faruk is accused in 16 cases, said police.
Three policemen, including sub-inspector Ashraful, were injured during the gunfight.
Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said a team of police conducted a drive in the area while a group of terrorists, including Faruk, was holding a secret meeting at about 8:45 pm.
Sensing the presence of the police team, Faruk and his associates opened fire at them, promoting the law enforcers to fire back that left Faruk bullet-hit and three policemen injured.
