Tense situation over CCC election

A tense situation over the forthcoming Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) election has been prevailing in the port city recently.
 Aspirant candidates from both ruling and the opposition BNP are in the run of mayorship. The aspirants from Awami League are slowly advancing with the mass contacts in different city wards in the city including holding of pre-election rallies and sittings for the last few months. The aspirants of the ruling party viz. former Mayor and President of city AL ABM mohiuddin Chowdhury, CDA Chairman Abdus Salam , City AL General Secretary AZM Nasirudin and former legislator of Chittagong-9 constituency Nurul Islam Bsc .
 The top ranking AL leaders are vigorously contacting the locals through different social celebrations with the ultimate goal of CCC mayorship election. Party sources said Prime Minister has called them in Dhaka for threadbare discussions over CCC election and the candidature from the ruling party. AL sources said said ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury , AZM Nasiruddin and Nurul Islam Bsc now in Dhaka to meet the party chief and Prime Minister but they could not meet her on Monday due to PM’s public meeting at Shuhrawardy Uddayan in observance of the Bangabhandhu’s home coming day.
 It is expected that these Chittagong Mayor aspirants are expected to meet the PM at her office on Tuesday evening.
Mentionable that former legislator Nurul Islam returned from abroad after health checkup in Austrialia .Informed circles assumed that PM will give them a concrete instructions over the coming CCC election and the ongoing movement of the BNP led oppositions .
On the other hand three Mayor aspirants from opposition BNP for CCC election are present Mayor Manzoor Alam, City BNP President Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and the General Secretary of BNP city unit Dr. Shahdat Hossain.
 In the meantime, city mayor paid courtesy call on BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The aspirants are frequently holding the meetings in local ward areas but due to ongoing siege programs of BNP, the mass contact programs of the party remained stranded.
