With a target to providing technical learning for overseas-goers, a technical training centre is being established in Fenchuganj upazila in Sylhet district soon. It would be one of the 40 technical institutions to be established at upazilas under the first phase of a special programme, an official informed.
The Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment has taken up the project for implementing through Manpower and Training Bureau on a location near the Dhaka-Sylhet (via Fenchuganj) highway. Foundation of the project would be laid soon. Local MP Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury take the intiative when he was Member of the parlament stading committee.
When implemented, the institution would help creating technical manpower for overseas employment, an official informed. Besides, it would help providing technical education for the region’s young people to meet the rising local market’s requirement in various sectors.
Initially the project work includes a four-storey building, two buildings of three-storey each and boundary wall.
The institute would provide diploma and trade courses on light engineering, computer programming, hotel, hospitality, and tourism-service related courses and foreign language learning etc, the official added.
MP Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury said, an amount of Tk 183.3 million had already been sanctioned for the institution, to be established on the two-acre site near the Fenchuganj Toll Plaza. A private firm had already been awarded the job since the project was approved in the ECNEC last year.
