As teachers are the key force to increase quality of education, the government is giving due importance to enhance dignity of teachers, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said.
“We have increased salaries and other facilities for ensuring dignified life of teachers,” he said this on Monday while speaking at a discussion titled “Empowering teachers, building sustainable societies,” in the auditorium of Teachers and Students Center of Dhaka University (DU) here. The discussion was held on the occasion of World Teachers Day-2015.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique and Executive Director of Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) Rasheda K Choudhury, among others, addressed the discussion with Chairman of Initiative for Human Development Principal Kazi Faruq Ahmed in the chair.
Nahid said in the past six and a half-year, the country witnessed a remarkable progress in expansion of education.
