BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun alleged that putting on the mask of Golam Azam, Begum Zia’a eldest son Tarique Rahman, staying in London, has been conspiring against the country. “Ameer (supremo) of Jamaat Golam Azam conspired against Bangladesh from London after liberation of the country. Following the footstep of Jamaat Ameer, Tarique Rahman has been doing the same. But, the people of the country will never let the conspiracy to be materialised,” she said.
Sahara Khatun, also a former Home Minister, said this on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city. Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised the discussion at the seminar room of the National Public Library in observance of the 9th death anniversary of Awami League leader and former Home Minister Abdul Mannan. Jote leader and eminent cultural personality Hasan Imam chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Awami League (AL) information and research affairs secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, Dhaka City AL organising secretary Shahe Alam Murad, Awami Swechchasebak League president Advocate Mollah Md Abu Kowsar, Krishak League vice-president MA Karim and Jote general secretary Arun Sarker Rana.
Sahara Khatun said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the first President of Bangladesh government in exile during the war of liberation.
The senior AL leader said, “A new conspiracy is being hatched to distort the history of the nation again as the conspirators want to put a question mark on the country’s existence, which was designed by killer Mostaque and Ziaur Rahman in collusion with the defeated forces of independence after Bangabandhu’s assassination in 1975. Staying in London, Tarique Rahman has been fanning the evil design of the ghosts in this regard.” Paying her deep homage to late AL leader, Sahara Khatun said, “As a close associate of Bangabandhu, Abdul Mannan was an imitable personality in regard to his organising capacity. He had a laudable role as one of the organisers of the Liberation War and in the operation of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendro as well as in the anti- autocracy movement.”
Advocate Quamrul Islam said, “It’s a planned conspiracy of Begum Zia to claim her slain husband Ziaur Rahman as the first president of Bangladesh and an attempt to mislead the nation.” Terming those confusion creators as the enemies of the nation, the Food Minister called upon all to build united resistance against these evil forces.
