Shahjalal University of Science and Technology students on Thursday demanded speedy trial of the killers of Ganajagaran Mancha Sylhet Unit activist Jagathjyoti Talukder.
They made the demand at a rally after forming a human chain under the banner of Muktijuddher Chetanay Udbuddha Shikkharthibrinda, a platform of the students in the spirit of Liberation War, in front of Central Library on the campus at noon.
Speakers at the rally alleged that no progress was shown in the trial process of the case filed for killing the secular writer Jagathjyoti Talukder so far, even seven years after. They demanded immediate step to ensure speedy trial in the case of Jagathjyoti murder.
SUST unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League joint general secretary Mrinmay Dash Jhotan, its environmental affair secretary Khalilur Rahman, deputy office secretary Sajibur Rahman, social science faculty unit vice-president Mamun Shah, relief and disaster affairs deputy secretary Imran Ahmad Chowdhury and deputy social welfare secretary Shahadat Hossain Simanta, among others, addressed the rally.
