The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a suspected JMB leader named Emdadul Haque alias Ujjal Master raiding a home in the capital’s Basila area on Thursday.
At that time, pistols, bullets, Tk about 3 lakh in cash, chemicals, indigenously made bullet proof jackets and some jihadi books were seized from the operation site.
Earlier, on suspicion of being a militant hideout, RAB-2 surrounded a white four-storey building in an alley on the left side in front of the Basila Bridge in Mohammadpur.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the legal and media wing at RAB headquarters, told the media that RAB’s dog squad, bomb disposal unit and forensic team entered the four-storey building in Basila around 8:30 am. The second floor of the four-storey building was then searched by a dog squad.
The militants detained from hideout have been taken to the RAB headquarters. He is being interrogated there.
It will be known at the end of interrogation that in which level of JMB member he is.
According to preliminary interrogation of both housekeeper and the detained militant of Basila resident it was known that Emdadul Haque rented a flat on the second floor of the building on the 2nd day of this month. Talking about working in a printing press when renting the flat. He also paid an advance of taka 5,000 at the time of rent.
The detained militant and another person rented the house on the condition that they would give their national identity cards if the family members came within a week. Two more people were also seen coming and going in the house often. They left the house yesterday, Commander Khandaker Al Moin added.
RAB also claimed that four militants those who arrested from Khagdahar area of Mymensingh have given information about their militant hideout at Basila in Mohammadpur of the capital.
They said a top JMB leader used to live in Basila’s house. On the basis of this information, the operation was conducted in the militant hideout of Basila.
