Benazir Ahmed, director general of Rapid Action Battalion on Tuesday noon at RAB-8 headquarter in Barishal distributing financial grants, aids and eid-presentations among the family members of surrendered forest dacoits, announced that Sundarban forest would be free from robbers within October 2018.
`If rest of robbers will not surrender within this period then they will face hard action’, the RAB DG added.
RAB DG was addressing as chief guest at of the programme also inaugurated `Sundarbaner Hasi’, a rehabilitation project for surrendered forest robbers.
He said this project launched to rehabilitate 243 families of the robbers who are surrendered to RAB-8 in last two years.
RAB trying to create a social sensation for rehabilitations of the surrendered forest pirates and their family members in the society by launching Smile of Sundarban (Sundarboner Hasi) project with the help of local people.
Government will give them economical assistances, technical supports, legal aids, employment opportunity and others facilities they needed for rehabilitation in the society, he added.
Twenty sewing machines, education grants to four families and eid-presentations among all of the family members of surrendered robbers, were distributed in the programme.
He said in last two years RAB-8 recovered 379 arms and 18,804 rounds of ammunitions and arrested 243 pirates of 23 pirate-gangs from Sundarban forest area and so Sundarban no returned to a peaceful tourist spot with natural beauty.
Already help and assistances seek from surrendered robbers including 23 for sewing, 24 for training for driving vehicle, 1 for boutique, 3 for learning computer operation, 10 for education and employment and 4 for medical and RAB will help them, the DG RAB added.
High officials of divisional, district administrations, law enforcing agencies were present at the programme.
