Suhrawardy Hospital`s six doctors tested coronavirus positive

Six doctors of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital have tested positive with coronavirus infection.
Two of the doctors are have been admitted to the hospital, while the rest four are receiving treatment staying at home, said Prof Dr Uttam Barua, Director of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
“We couldn’t identify the source of their infection yet. Two of the infected doctors are spouses. They are under treatment at the hospital,” he added.
It is learnt that one of the infected doctors said his samples were taken on Wednesday and the test results came positive on Saturday. He is in home-quarantine. His wife is also a doctor and her samples will be taken on Sunday.
Sources at the hospital said that more than 15 doctors from the Department of Anesthesia and ICU of the hospital are currently in quarantine.
The government recently designated Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital as one of the hospitals to treat coronavirus patients. The hospital will officially start admitting coronavirus patients from Sunday. However, the hospital already has four coronavirus patients under treatment.
“Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hospital at Kurmitola General and Mahanagar Hospital didn’t admit a pregnant woman, who was diagnosed with coronavirus. We have admiited her here,” Dr Barua added.
