Students shouldn’t be lined up to greet any person except President , PM : Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid MP on Saturday in Barisal categorically announced that students of any level should not belined up to greet any person except the President and Prime Minister, as these two personalities were head of the state and government and it would be a matter of good luck to see them.
There was a clear instruction from the ministry and it was followed in last five-year. But recently some over-enthusiasts again started the act violating the existing instructions of the government. It should. be stopped and prevented by the cooperation of all concerned, the education minister told.
If any lawmaker, minister of distinguished guest goes to visit any place or institution, he would be greeted by the related authority within the institution compound and students should not be used to welcome them outside the institution premises, the minister directed again.
The minister said these while inaugurating Bangladesh National School mand Madrasa Sports Association arranged 43rd National Winter Sportsand Athletics Competition 2014 managed by Barisal Education Board at
Barisal Shaheed Andur Rob Serniabad Stadium on Saturday morning.
We achieved our independence after a 24-year struggle in 1971, but yet not able to fulfill aims and objectives of our liberation in last 42-year after independence. Achieving the aims and objects of liberation is more tuff than the getting independence and we should be united for that, the education minister acknowledged.
Only infrastructural development of education sector was not the main aim of the government, but our principal aim is to introduce and develop a world-standard education system for the young generation, Nahid told.
So we should not be satisfied by the achievements of education sector in last five-year, till achieving that world-standard in education sector, the minister told.
Replying questions about resuming screening cartoon ‘Dorimon’ after a short-period break and its negative influence on the psychology of the children, the education minister told he will talk about this with the information minister.
Prof. Fahima Khatun, director general, directorate of secondary and higher secondary education, presided over the inaugural session of the event.
Among others Advocate Shawkat Hossain Hiron, Talukdar Md. Yunus, AL lawmakers, Dr. Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, secretary education ministry, Prof.Ataur Rahman, (director college and administration) DSHSE, Prof. Taslima Begum, chairman, Dhaka Education Board, Prof. Dr. Bimal Krishna Majumdar, chairman Barisal Education Board, Nurul Amin,
divisional commissioner, Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner, Farhana
Huq, secretary of the Bangladesh National School and Madrasa Sports
Association, addressed the progragramme.

Total 672 competitors from 231 educational institutions of the country
participated in the final round of 35 events in the five-day 43rd
National Winter Sports and Athletics started from Saturday.
