Students demand review of 36th BCS preli results

UNB, Dhaka :Students of different educational institutions formed a human chain in the city on Monday demanding that the results of the 36th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary results be reviewed.A group of demonstrators under the banner of ‘Meritorious Student Platform’ participated in the human chain at Shahbagh intersection around 4pm.They also demanded immediate cancellation of the quota system in recruitment to government jobs.They alleged that the Bangladesh Public ServiceCommission (BPSC) published the 36th preliminary results following quota system which allowed many less meritorious students for the written test.Later, the demonstrators brought out a procession which paraded different streets on the Dhaka University campus.They also threatened to go for a tougher movement if their demands are not met immediately.The protesters included students from Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Jagannath University, Dhaka College and Eden College.The results of the 36th BCS preliminary examination were published on February 10. A total of 13,830 candidates out of 211,326 qualified for the written public service examinations.
