In spite of the closure of Bagerhat Institute of Marine Technology sine-die, its students formed a human chine in front of Bagerhat Press Club on Saturday morning demanding the removal of its acting Principal Dr. Sirahul Islam for his alleged grossed malpractices and irregularities.
Students told the human chain, in spite of the involvement of the principal in corruptions like miss-appropriation of students’ scholarships, supply of inferior quality of food to the students’ mess and other irregularities and the higher authorities concerned did not remove the principal from his post.
On the contrary, they closed the institution sine-die. As a result, hundred of students were thrown into utter distress and their academic carrier became uncertain. The human chain was addressed among others by its students Mahmud Shimul, Khalid Hasan Bappi, Abu Noman, Abdullah Sabuj, Shahidul Islam Ratul, Prnata Chandra, Ashik Mallik. All the speakers strongly demanded the immediate removal of the acting principal. It may be mentioned here that previously the students submitted a memorandum to the higher authorities concerned stating 18 allegations for the removal of the principal and they began to observe strike.
