Stock markets finished the second session of the week on Monday flat as major sectors closing the session with falling trend at both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges.
Among the falling major sectors were ceramics, food and allied, financial institutions and insurance when 144 securities of the large-cap group incurred loss due to lower activities.
The broader DSEX index at DSE was slightly up 0.26 points to close the day at 5695.72. On the other hand, the Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 fell by 2.62 points down at 1305.19 and 4.77 points at 2061.55.
The lower activates in DSE declined the trade value to Taka 995.41 crore for 29.43 crore shares which was lower than the previous session of the week when the transaction value was Taka 1103.76 crore for 35.91 crore shares.
At DSE, out of the day’s 325 traded issues, price of 173 securities closed lower against 106 gaining issues.
The major gaining issues were IFIC, AB Bank, ICB, MI Cement and Tunghai knitting. The major losing issues were Standard Ceramics, Fine Foods, Monno Ceramics, BIFC and Takaful Insurance.
IFIC topped the turnover leaders followed by City Bank, Bangladesh Building System, RSRM Steel and AB Bank. The general CASPI index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also suffered 20.44 points loss to finish the day at 17,686.54.
At CSE, issues traded 251 while 146 closed lower against 76 closed higher.
