SSC exams from today

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations begin across the country today (Sunday). This year, a total of 14,32,727 students under 10 educational boards, including one madrassah and one technical boards, will sit for the examinations from 27,489 institutions.The examinations will be held in 2942 centres across the country. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid briefed the media about the examinations at the secretariat on Saturday. The number of total examinees has risen to 1,29,554 from previous year’s 13,03,203. A total of 296 students will sit for the examinations from seven overseas centres.This year, the SSC examinations will be held under creative question papers except Bangla 2nd paper, English 1st and 2nd papers and Mathematics, the minister said.The examinations were supposed to start on February 2, and the exams have been shifted to February 9 due to Biswa Ijtema. The written examinations will end on March 13 as the practical exams are scheduled to begin on March 16.The morning shift examinations will be held from 10 am to 1 pm while that of afternoon shift from 2 pm to 5 pm. The minister also said the examinations will end on March 20 while the results will be published by May 20. Nahid also urged the political parties not to enforce any hartal during the examinations. He said carrying mobile set phones will not be allowed in the examinations centres.
