Staff Reporter :The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled to begin today (Wednesday) have been deferred to Saturday, (February 7) as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led 20-party alliance on Tuesday extended ongoing 72-hour nationwide hartal by 36 hours until 6pm tomorrow (Thursday). “The Bengali second paper examination, will now be held on Saturday (February 7) from 10am to 1pm,” said Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid in an emergency press briefing at his secretariat office in city.He said that considering the fate of about 15 lakh examinees they have taken the decision. Earlier on Sunday, the education ministry deferred SSC and equivalent examinations to Friday as BNP-led 20-party alliance announced 72 hours nationwide hartal and blockade.The Bengali first paper examination will be held on Friday from 9 am to 12 noon as per earlier announcement and the rest of the examinations will be held as per schedule. The SSC and its equivalent examinations of 2015 were scheduled to begin on February 2 with participation of 14,79,666 students. The examinations will begin simultaneously under the country’s 10 education boards, including one of madrasah and another technical board.
