President M Abdul Hamid hosted a milad and doa mahfil at Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban after Asr prayers on Thursday seeking eternal blessings for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other August 15 martyrs coinciding with the National Mourning Day.
A special munajat was offered also praying for martyrs of 1971 Liberation
War and different national movements at different times of national history.
The President and others who joined the milad also offered their Asr prayers at the Darbar Hall.
President’s family members, his secretaries, civil and military officials and employees of Bangabhaban attended the milad-mahfil and munajat led by Bangabhaban Jame Mosque Imam Maulana Muhammad Saiful Kabir.
Ahead of the prayers a documentary on the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, produced by the Department of Film and Publications, was screened at the Durbar Hall which was followed by a brief discussion.
President’s Secretary Sampad Barua discussed on the life and works of Bangabandhu and recited a self- written poem on him while his Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin and Assistant Military Secretary Brigadier General Kazi Iftekharul Alam also spoke.
