Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Saturday paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city. “After taking oath as member of parliament (MP) in the eleventh Jatiya Sangsad, the Speaker placed wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” said a press release of the parliament secretariat. After placing the wreath, she stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of the country’s independence.
Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was elected MP from Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency in the 11th parliamentary election.
Deputy Speaker Mohammad Fazley Rabbi Mia also paid homage to Bangabandhu there.
