A slaughtered spotted deer of Sundarban forest was recovered from Bakultala, an adjacent village of Sundarban forest under Sharnakhola Upazila in the district on Tuesday, according to a delayed report received here.
I ACF Kamal Hossain, Ranger of Sharankhola Forest Range in the Eastern Division that in the morning a deer crossed the river Mara Bhola that separates the forest from the human habitations and entered Bakultala village. Then some villagers chased and caught it and slaughtered the same in order to distribute its flesh among themselves.
Acting on a secret information some members opf the forest guards of the local forest office rushed to the spot. But as soon as they forest reached the villager miscreants fled away. Forest guards searche the area and recovered the the slaughtered deer from a heap of straws, adjacent to the house of one Jamal Sharif.
