Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited defeated Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by two goals to nil in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited took the second position in the points table bagging 26 points from 12 matches, while Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited took the sixth spot in the points table earning 19 points from as many matches.
Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings led the points table grabbing 34 points from 12 matches.
The pre-lemon session saw a 1-0 lead for the Dhanmondi based out-fit.
Sheikh Jamal’s Uzbek forward Otabek put his team ahead in the 25th minute of the play.
After the interval, Sheikh Jamal’s Gambian forward Solomon King doubled the margin in the 83rd minute of the match.
Mohammedan Sporting Club got the first chance in the 2nd minute but Mohammedan’s Nigerian recruit Abiola Nurat’s angular shot was fisted by Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club’s custodian Masum.
In the 4th minute Mohammedan were saved from conceded a goal as their defenders Atiq’s back pass was going into the net but Mohammedan goalie Bipu saved their team from the danger at the cost of corner.
Sheikh Jamal’s Gambian recruit Omar failed to head the ball from a cross of his teammate Zahid just after the interval.
After two minutes, Otabek’s shot was saved by Mohammedan custodian Bipu.
Later, Mohammedan got a chance but Bappi’s header went wide in the 54th minute of the game.
