Shawkat put on 4-day fresh remand

Two different courts of Dhaka on Tuesday placed BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and journalist leader Shawkat Mahmud on a four-day fresh remand in four cases filed with Paltan, Motijheel and Rampura police stations in the capital.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Ali Mahmud Sheikh placed Shawkat Mahmud on a one-day
remand in a case filed with Rampura Police Station, while Magistrate Maruf Hossain placed Shawkat Mahmud to police to interrogate him for three days in the three other cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel police stations.
Police sought 40 days’ remand for the journalist leader in the four cases, while Shawkat Mahmud’s counsel Md Sanaullah Miah sought bail for his client.
Earlier on August 27, the court placed Shawkat Mahmud on a one-day fresh remand in a case filed with Lalbagh Police Station. On August 24, the court placed him on four days’ remand in four cases filed with Paltan and Motijheel police stations.
