Shanghai, Hong Kong stocks down by lunch

Shanghai shares retreated in the morning session Friday, hit by profit-taking from a recent rally, while data showed China’s economy grew in January-March at its slowest pace in seven years.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.26 percent, or 8.10 points, to 3,074.26, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, fell 0.38 percent, or 7.45 points, to 1,975.00.
The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong dipped 0.16 percent, or 33.60 points, to 21,304.21.
