Shakib top wicket-taker in T20I

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is now the highest wicket-taker in the Twenty20 International Cricket (T20I) format. Shakib captured 108 wickets playing 89 T20I matches. Before Scotland’s match, Shakib claimed 106 wickets playing 88 T20I games. The left-arm spinner bagged two wickets at the cost of 17 runs against Scotland in their ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers match at Amerat Stadium in Oman on Sunday. Earlier, pacer Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka was the highest wicket-taker in this shorter version cricket format with 107 wicket from 84 matches. Shakib leveled with Malinga after taking the wicket of Richie Berrington of Scotland. After Berrington’s dismissal, he dismissed Michael Leask of Scotland and then became the highest wicket-taker of T20I cricket.
Tim Southee of New Zealand captured 99 wickets playing 83 T20I matches and took the third spot. Shahid Afridi of Pakistan took the fourth position claiming 98 wickets playing 99 matches. Prolific spinner Rashid Khan of Afghanistan achieved fifth position with 95 wickets taking part in 51 matches.
