Bangladesh national women team cricketer Chameli Khatun has been suffering from severe illness since last eight years.
On Sunday, according to reports revealed, Chameli Khatun, 29, who was once one of the core performers of Bangladesh national women cricket team, is undergoing continued deterioration of health for nearly a decade now. She needs an amount of at least 10 lac BDT for proper treatment.
On knowing the circumstances, Bangladesh national team pacer Mustafizur Rahman extended his helping hand to Chameli. Subsequently all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has also went on with assistance for the woman cricketer.
Chameli tore her ligament eight years ago while playing. Lack of treatment over the years worsen Chameli’s spinal cord condition. The right side of her body is ascending towards being paralytic due to damages of soft discs in between spinal cord vertebrae.
On Tuesday, Chameli Khatun confirmed one of the Bangladesh media that star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has also came forward to help her after young pacer Mustafizur Rahman.
She said, “At present I’m staying in Rajshahi. Physicians asked for the surgery around six months ago; but I could not follow that due to extreme financial incapability.”
“I was closed to being paralyzed twice several months ago. Doctors said they have nothing to do now. They said another attack would leave me paralyzed for the rest of my life,” she moaned.
Chameli Khatun represented Bangladesh not only in cricket but also in football and athletics for twelve long years from 1999 to 2011. Due to inability to move, Chameli is now resting in bed for most of the time.
