Security beefed up in city: BGB deployed Stern action against violence: Asad

Law enforcers have taken special security measures in the capital city to thwart any kind of sabotage ahead of Monday’s daylong hartal, called by BNP-led 20 party alliance.
 According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), required numbers of policemen has been deployed in the city to maintain the law-and-order situation while Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel will keep vigil at important points of the city. Meanwhile, the government has also deployed personnel of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the capital on Sunday evening.
“BGB personnel have started patrolling at 6pm in different strategic points to maintain law and order,” Mohosin Reza, public relations officer of BGB headquarters, confirmed media.
They are keeping vigil particularly at the Secretariat, diplomatic zone, Sangsad Bhaban area, Uttara, Dhanmondi, Farmgate and Karwan Bazar.
Sources at BGB headquarters said 10 platoons of BGB members had already begun patrolling the city streets in association with the members of other law enforcement agencies.
Talking to reporters at his secretariat office, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the law enforcers will take stern action if any one tries to carry out violence in the name of hartal.
BNP sources said the party has taken all-out preparations to make the general strike tight and asked every unit of BNP and its associate bodies and the 20-party alliance partners to take to the streets in support of the hartal.
