Security has been beefed up at the ancestral home of Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman, who delivered the verdict in a graft case against BNP chief Khaleda Zia sentencing her to 5 years jail, at Shahbaz village in Kaunia upazila of the district.
Mamunur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge of Kaunia Police Station said they beefed up security at the ancestral home of Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman on Thursday, apprehending subversive activities following the verdict against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia. Earlier on Thursday, Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman handed
down the verdict that convicted former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the much-talked-about Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Marium Khatun, mother of Md Akhtaruzzaman, said her son delivered a fair verdict in the graft case filed against Khaleda Zia. “We feel proud of him”.
The district administration deployed five police personnel to ensure security to the family members of Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman. Justice Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman has seven brothers and sisters. His mother and one of his brothers live at their ancestral home at Shahbaz village.
