Probe body formed: Schoolboy hospitalised after corporal punishment

Nazmul Hasan (13), student of class seven at Union Polli Unnayan Institute of Wazirpur was hospitalised after beaten by the teacher in the school compound.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon during school hour.
Md. Rezaul Kabir, headmaster of the institute, said school committee already issued a show cause notice to the accused teacher Md. Shahin and he went on leave.
Headmaster said that a three member probe committee headed by Md. Siddikur Rahman, assistant headmaster along with Mozammel Sarkar, managing committee member and Zamal Hosen, teacher-representative of the school, was formed on Wednesday.
The committee asked to submit report within next two working days.
Police visited the spot and till this report no case was lodged in this connection, said Wazirpur police station officer in charge Nurul Islam.
Monowar Hossain, class mate of the victim, said he and Nazmul went out of the class room at about 12:30 pm on Tuesday noon for drinking water.
After returning in the class Namur found that some one knotted his school bag.
Then he and other students started shouting demanding repair of the fan.
Hearing the noise of shouting, Md. Shahin, a teacher from neighbouring class, rushed there and started beating Nazmul.
At one stage Nazmul fell down on the school corridor but the teacher continued his beating.
Other teachers then rushed to the spot rescued Nazmul from the grip of the angry teacher Shahin and giving first-aid sent Nazmul home.
However Nazmul was admitted at near by Banaripara upazila health complex on Tuesday night after his physical condition deteriorated with severe pain and temperature on his body, said his parents Hemayet Uddin and Nargis Begum.
Dr.Ziaul Ahsan, doctor on duty at the health complex, said Nazmul was suffering from high fever due to beating.
Beauty Gharami, class teacher of Nazmul, also acknowledged the facts.
After hearing this news officials of Banaripara and Uzirpur police stations visited the hospital and took statements of the related students and teachers.
