Judges appointment in Appellate Division: SCBA protests violation of seniority

The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Tuesday protested the violation of the seniority in appointing the three new judges in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
So, the SCBA also took a decision not to give any felicitation to the three newly appointed Appellate Division Judges, as they were appointed superseding the senior judges of the HC divisions.
The leaders of the organization took three points decision in an emergency general meeting held in the Shamsul Haq Chowdhury Hall of the bar building yesterday.
Bar President Advocate Zainul Abedin presided over the meeting and Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan conducted it.
Advocate A N M Abed Raza, Advocate Md Akhteruzzaman, Advocate Ashiqur Rahman, Advocate Mirza Al Mahmud, Barrister Syed Saedul Haq Sumon, Advocate Md Salah Uddin Sikder and Advocate Kazi Joynal Abedin, among others, gave speech in the meeting.
The SCBA also decided to take action against a member of the bar, Barrister Syed Sayedul Haq Sumon, as he created chaos in the meeting over sitting in the hall-room. An investigation committee will be formed to give suggestion on the matter.
Bar President Advocate Zainul Abedin said, we were demanding to recruit judge in the Appellate Division as there was shortage of judges. But if the discipline is violated in the recruitment of the judges, then the judicial anarchy is created.
He demanded the judge recruitment and the promotion policy before the next judge recruitment in both the divisions of the Supreme Court.
