ATM Mahmud :
Youths of the developed world are now sharpening their merits building robots and robotic knowledge and artificial intelligence. Besides, most of the members of our younger generation are passing very busy time to memorise lessons from their study books.
As a result, at the same time, the developed world is getting a brighter generation to secure their already established seat as a global leader. Meanwhile, a large part of our next generation is growing as burden to the nation, as they are being bookish and job seekers only.
When a college level student memorises essays like ‘My aim in life’ to write in examination, that proves that the student have not fixed any aim in his or her life.
Tens of thousands of such students are regularly memorising the essay from their books as part of their examination preparations. Such activities have proved two separate things. One is that those students failed to fix their aims in life, another is that they have no capabilities to write such an essay related to their dreams, due to their weakness in language both in English and Bangla.
That makes a clear means that those youths are growing as bookish. Everyone knows that bookish knowledge is not a power or asset in case of necessity. In these circumstances, those youths are growing as powerless, and inefficient.
The matters are posing grave threats to our nation building field. Bookish mentality created a puzzle for the youths as they failed to fix a dream or an aim in their life. Such puzzle is snatching real dreams from hearts of our students.
Certainly, it is not a case of a few youths or students but it is a common phenomenon of our nation.
This reality raised questions that how long path we have advanced in the way of our progress? Are we on the right track to build a bright nation? Are we honestly showing the real path to our in future nation builder youths?
The answer will surely be negative. The above mentioned story has indicated it. If it is the reality then a big question arises who will lead the nation in future in different sectors? If mostly or a notable portion of our youths failed to fix their goal or aim in life it seemed a boat floating without any target which must be missing or may be destroyed by a sudden storm.
In these circumstances, the leaders of the nation, the government, and the others who are responsible and involved to prepare school and college curriculums, should be aware soon and take necessary measures to recover and evacuate our next generations from destroying their own future as well the future of the nation.
The authorities responsible for preparing the text books and the curriculum and appointment of teachers should think the matter deeply.
It is easy to understand for all that a secondary school and higher secondary level student must have to fix his aim in life to achieve in his or her real life. He or she must have a roadmap to implement the desired goal.
But it seemed that our students have no real dream to fulfill or have no capability to write an essay describing their plans to achieve a target in life.
In these both cases, we find a unreliable generation are being grown as a future of the nation.
Memorising and answering in examination hall are British tricks in this area to build some Clerks from the native people here. But, after, hundred years of getting liberation from British colonial power, how much have we got rid of those Clerks making educational system? It is also a big question now.
Memorising questions’ answers and writing those in the answer sheet as a bookish to get marks and bag a desirable certificate may not be considered as a bad thing. All of these efforts of those students are only for securing a desirable job.
But question is whoever else will give them a good or responsible job? The youth, who have not capability to make a road map of his or her life, are they be reliable enough for the employers?
In these circumstances, the leaders have to surge ahead to change the whole education system.
Besides, the youth students also have to play a vital role to change the fate of the nation through their own efforts.
They have to realize the matter with their hearts and soul, they have to love their own life and love the countrymen as well the motherland and to take oath to bring the nation towards light of hope from the darkness of frustrations.
The youths have to realise that they are not only for being a job seeker for get a life of hand to mouth forever.
If most of our students want to get a job after completing education, then who will give the desirable job them?
The future generation should make them as job creators by being entrepreneurs.
The capable and meritorious students should consider it with utmost importance.
The future generation will be strong in languages like Bangla and English to write everything they want.
They also will be capable and courageous enough to make a well decorated road map for their own life as well for the nation. The guardians and the teachers as well the leaders have to do much to create such a environment for our future generation.
It is today’s expectation.
