A local journalist sustained stab injuries in an attack by miscreants at Kalibari in the city on Monday midnight.
The injured was identified as Pulok Chaterjee, bureau chief of the daily Samakal in Barisal and general secretary of Barisal Press Club.
Police and locals said Pulok came under attack by a group of miscreants on the way to his residence in the city’s Kalibaria area around 12:30am.
The miscreants chopped him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him injured in the head, hands and legs.
Critically injured, Pulok was admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Police said that the attack might have occurred due to family feud.
Police detained a man named Shubol Mukharjee, brother-in-law (brother of his wife) of the victim, for interrogation.
