Dainik Samakal and Alokito Bangladesh reached the quarterfinals of the Kool-BSJA Media Cup Football Tournament eliminating their rivals at BFF Artificial Turf in Motijheel on Saturday.
Samakal emerged Group H champions outplaying Naya Diganta by 4-1 goals while Alokito Bangladesh clinched Group G title beating SA TV by 2-1 goals.
Rashedul Islam of Samakal and Shafiq Kalim of Alokito Bangladesh were adjudged players of their respective matches.
On the other hand, ATN Bangla, ATN News, Boishakhi TV, GTV and Channel i made good start after winning their respective matches on the 2nd day of the meet at the same venue on Saturday.
ATN Bangla beat New Age 2-1; GTV defeated Manabzamin 2-1; ATN News crushed Jugantor 5-0, Channel i outplayed Sakaler Khabor 5-1 while Boishakhi TV beat the Independent by 3-1 goals.
Kmruzzaman Razib of ATN Bangla, Al Amin Sabuj of GTV, Sabbir Ahmed ATN News, Rahul Roy of Channel i and Ruhul Amin of Boishakhi TV named as players of their respective matches.
Former national footballer Shafiqul Islam Manik, Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu, coach of national women’s football team Golam Rabbani Chotan and striker of national women’s team Sabina Khatun distributed the prizes.
BSJA general secretary Raihan Al Mugni, former BSJA general secretary Saidur Rahman Shamim and former BJSA Vice President Arifur Rahman Babu were also present on the occasion.
