Nigerian forward Emeka Ogbugh stuick twice as Saif Sporting Club managed a 4-2 goal victory over old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society in the second phase of TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football was held on Saturday at Shaheed Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium (SBFLMRS) in Munshiganj.
Apart from Emeka Ogbugh’s two goals, Rwandan defender Emery Bayisenge and Nigerian forward Mfon Udoh scored one goal each for Saif who led the first half by 2-0 goals. Midfielder Enamul Islam and midfielder Khondoker Ashraful Islam netted one goal each for Rahmatganj MFS.
Saif Sporting Club had to wait a few minutes to take the lead when Emery Bayisenge scored the first goal early in the 4th minute of the match.
Emeka Ogbugh doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Saif in the 8th minute.
Back with a healthy 2-0 lead, Saif SC began the second half with more organaised way and got the reap when Mfon Udoh further widened the margin scoring the thirds goal for Saif in the 58th minute of the match.
Enamul Islam however reduced the margin scoring the first goal for Rahmatganj in the 63rd minute of the match and midfielder Khondoker Ashraful Islam brought Rahmatganj in the match scoring the second goal in the 76th minute of the match.
Emeka Ogbugh sealed the victory scoring the fourth goal for Saif in the 79th minute of the match.
Saif SC dominated the first half and notched their deserving victory on the day while Rahmatganj offered some resistance in the second half but could not skip their defeat.
The day’s win saw, Saif Sporting Club raised their tally to 21 points from 13 matches while the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj remained at their previous credit of 10 points playing the same number of matches.
Earlier, in the first phase, Saif Sporting Club defeated Rahmatganj MFS by 3-1 goals held at SBFLMRS.
Today’s match: Mohammedan Sporting Club vs Swadhinata Krira Sangha at 3.30 pm at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
