Tender Evaluation Committee of Chittagong Port Authority has selected Saif Power Tech as a competent container handling operator for two berths of New Mooring container terminal(NCT).
After opening of the tender documents of technical & financial bid , Saif Power Tec was the lowest and technically know how operator among the other bidders, a port reliable sources said. Sources said Saif Power Tec jointly with newly elected City Mayor owned MH Chowdhury Shipping and Noakhali Sadar legislator owned A & J Enterprises submitted tenders for operating the two berths of NCT. Port sources said out of 5 berths of NCT, 4 berths will be given to private operators for container handling and tenders called for these 4 berths recently. Saif power tec alongwith two others submitted tenders for berth No.4 & 5.
Tender evaluation committee considered the technical tender as well financial proposals of Saif Power tec after opening of the tender papers so received by the committee. A reliable sources said Saif power tec submitted financial bid for Tk.49.64 crores for next two years for two berths.
Meanwhile for the last 8 eight years NCT could be operated in full swing lack of private operators and tender complications.
The construction work of NCT was completed in 2007 at cost of 470 crores and about Tk.one crore spent for making the storage space for containers. The capacity of NCT is more than the other berths of CPA and Mongla Port, sources said.
