A Dhaka court again asked Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to submit the probe report of the case filed in connection with the murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi by August 28.
Dhaka CMM Court Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari passed the order after RAB’s Investigation Officer (IO) failed to submit the report on Tuesday.
With this, the report submission date has been deferred for 90 times.
The couple was brutally murdered in their rented apartment in West Rajabazar on 11 February 2012.
Sagar Sarowar was a broadcast news editor of Maasranga TV and Meherun Runi was a Senior Reporter of ATN News.
Their four-year-old son of the couple, Mahir Sarowar Megh was present at the time of the murder.
Runi’s brother Nousher Alam filed the murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station of the city. Four days later, the investigation was handed over to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB).
The court then instructed RAB to investigate the case afterward.
