From now on, the rural masses will get banking services through Union Digital Centres (UDCs) after the best uses of agent banking activities in the district.
Madhumati Bank Limited will provide agent banking privileges to this end. For the purpose, senior officers of the bank signed a memorandum of understanding with entrepreneurs of eight UDCs under Paba Upazila and one under Godagari Upazila at Paba Upazila Parishad hall room here yesterday afternoon.
Under the agreement, the rural people including the underprivileged ones can avail the scopes of various banking services including account opening, money transection and transfer, utility bill payment, foreign remittance and balance checking.
Ayen Uddin, MP, and Senior Vice President (Agent Banking) of Madhumati Bank Mukhlesur Rahman addressed the ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Selim Hossain in the chair.
Upazilla Chairman Begum Khairunnessa and Vice chairman Ashraful Haque, branch manager of the bank Kollor Hossain and Huzripara UDC Entrepreneur Ziaul Haque also spoke.
Chief Guest Ayen Uddin said the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has digitalized Bangladesh Bank and other banking system in the country to materialize the dream of digital Bangladesh.
